7 Signs You Need A Mindset Reset

Are You Trying To Do Everything And Getting Nowhere?

You want to start your life over, go back to school, write your first book - or drop everything and start an online business.

But somehow you always end up too busy to make any real progress.

Slowly you inch towards your goals hoping that you'll get more time one day.

When my kids get older, I'll have time.

When I finish these classes, I'll have time.

When I have more money, I'll have time.

When I retire, I'll have time.

Somehow that time never comes...

With the demands of life on your shoulders you have too much to do to create the time you need to build your dream life.

So you keep pushing your dreams back, waiting for some magical later date where the time frees up.

Delicious living coach and VisionCon speaker, Adama Hamadi works with entrepreneurs and side hustlers to set essential boundaries around their time and energy.

She identified these top signs that overwhelm and burnout are right around the corner and if you’re experiencing them, it might be time for a mindset reset:

You’re tired of feeling overworked and underappreciated.

With my job taking up 8 hours of my day, and 3 hours with my daughter - my days can easily become a land that doesn’t feel like my own. It’s not uncommon to feel overworked and underappreciated (especially when you have an 11-year-old that doesn’t seem to notice you exist unless they want something).

You’ve spent too much time helping other people build their dreams.

That feeling you get when you know that you started work at 6AM and now it’s 7PM and you’re still at work. Those days where you know you’ve spent your time lining someone else’s pockets and helping to build someone else’s empire while your dreams, your goals are on the back burner.

You know it’s time to get out of your own way and demand more from life.

Do you have that nagging feeling that it really is time for you to break out of your shell and do something?

You’re a type A achiever that people know they can count on.

Are you that person that everyone is calling? My mom needs help building a website, my sister is raising money for a trip with her dance group to Africa, my auntie needs help researching products for her new business. Where in the world is my “me-time” when I’m doing all that?

You barely have time to breathe, much less work on your passion projects.

Are life’s never-ending demands keeping you away from that business, book or adventure you want to create?

You envy women that can do whatever they want, whenever they want.

Are you looking around at your friends who are working from home, building their business or writing their books and wondering, where are they finding the time to do that? Or… I wish I could do that!

You’ve thought “I’m always neglecting myself and putting other people’s dreams before mine” more times than you can count.

If you’ve ever thought this or said this, it’s time for a mindset reset my friend.

VisionCon speaker, Adama Hamadi, says that time management has little to do with TIME and everything to do with managing your inner critic.

You don’t need anymore productivity hacks, you simply need to retrain your mindset to give yourself permission to stop:

  • Stop signing up for struggle.

  • To let life be easy.

  • To turn off autopilot so you can be more deliberate and design a life that feels good.

The fact is “You have a say in how you spend your life, so why would you play the victim when you can play the creator” says Adama.

If you want to take control of your time, you have to give yourself permission to prioritize your wants, your needs and your goals.

It all starts with a mindset of self-prioritization and intention. That’s where you can start creating that life you want.

How To Host A Virtual Vision Board Party That Everyone Will LOVE

Vision board parties have become the thing to do when the new year is coming around and you’re ready to redefine your future.

In my opinion, vision boards are the best way to leave an old, crusty year behind and walk into your new year brand new, rejuvenated and ready to make your past accomplishments look like blips on the radar.

Vision board parties literally have it all: good food, drinks, goal setting, crafts, knowledge sharing and (most important) a reason to brag about yourself. (Who doesn’t like a little humble bragging?)

That begs the question, is it possible to take an in-person experience like a vision board party and bring it online? The answer is a definite YES!

I've hosted a few virtual vision board parties and the majority of the process is the same. The biggest difference would be getting the attendees to feel "in the moment" enough to share their stories and get to know each other.

Here’s how to do a virtual vision board party your attendees will love.

The Tools

FOR THE VIDEO

For hosting the virtual vision board party, I use Crowdcast.

This is a super easy-to-use tool that allows you to broadcast to a live audience. (It’s so simple, I’ve had non-tech-folks tell me how much they love it!)

Crowdcast is perfect for vision board parties because this service allows up to 4 people to come onto the screen at the same time so your attendees can really get to know each other! In my events, I’ve had attendees jump on to the screen live to share their answers to questions I’ve asked the group.

Crowdcast will also accept ticketed events and even process the payments for you to making selling tickets to your virtual event super easy!

The Agenda

Your agenda will look similar to an in-person event.

Welcome: This is where you welcome guests and possibly share a tiny bit about you. You can ask guests questions and tell them what they have access to with the software you’re using. With Crowdcast, you’re able to invite guests live to share their story, they have a chat window and polls that they could use to engage. You’ll want to share all of these options with them at the beginning of the evening.

Icebreaker: These are simple “getting to know you” activities. I’ve discussed vision board party ice breakers in detail here.

Activity: Vision board parties are meant to get people thinking about what matters most in their lives and set goals. Walk through one or two activities to help your attendees think ask the important questions about what they really want out of their lives.

Tutorial: Every vision board party needs a tiny vision board tutorial. Here is where you tell attendees how to create a vision board that works. Creating effective vision boards typically consists of three phases: deciding on what big goal you want to work towards, thinking about how you’ll enjoy your life while in pursuit of that goal, and putting those ideas onto paper. Find out a fun way for you to share that with your audience.

PRO TIP #1: KEEP IT (RELATIVELY) SHORT

The party can be shorter, 1-2 hours. This depends on the time of day, whether the group becomes active and the conversation. I usually let the conversation flow and have gone up to 2.5 hours if things are going really well.

PRO TIP #2: BE READY FOR EVERYTHING

In person, you can control the room, the ambiance and what's going on in the background. You cannot do any of these things in a virtual party.

For example, in one virtual party a woman's kids ran up to her to say goodnight.

To keep the party fun, I chatted about her kids and wrapped parenting goals into the conversation.

When you're doing a virtual party - you have to be super flexible and ready for surprises.

PRO TIP #3: MAKE IT INTERACTIVE

Have activities for people to do and ask questions - wait for them to answer. People will be typing in response to what you’re saying in the event. Some people type slower than others. When you ask questions make sure you wait for people to type and respond to your questions before moving on to the next topic.

The Risk

The biggest benefit of a vision board party is taking that moment to yourself to stop worrying about what’s going on at home, work, hubby, the kids and focus on yourself for a moment. In it’s essence, it’s self care.

Moving vision board parties to online puts the self care benefit at serious risk.

In person, you can control the room, the ambiance and what's going on in the background. You cannot do any of these things in a virtual party.

For example, in one virtual party a woman's kids ran up to her to say goodnight.

This is the biggest thing when you're doing a virtual party - you have to be super flexible and ready for surprises.

If you’re thinking about hosting a virtual vision board party this year, give it a shot! This can be a great way to meet people online that you would never be able to interact with in person and add a more interactive form of communication with your audience.

How to Make Money Hosting Vision Board Parties

make money hosting vision board parties.png

It definitely seems like vision board parties just popped up out of nowhere, right?

About four years ago, a good friend invited me to my first vision board party. At the time, I thought it was some woo-woo voo-doo that would never work.

But I was struggling in my life (going through a whole quarter-life crisis thing) so I agreed anyway.

That’s where I learned just how powerful vision board parties really are - and from that moment on, I never started a year without creating a vision board.

And I wanted to share vision boards with… EVERYONE.

So I started hosting my own vision board parties (naturally). Sometimes I made money, other times I didn’t but I consistently learned what worked and what didn’t work year after year.

After my fifth vision board party, I had a good handle on exactly what I could do to ensure I made a profit- Every. Single. Time.

Keep Your Costs Low

You can increase your chances of making money by not spending that much money in the first place. There are a lot of fancy things you can add to a vision board party to make it super fancy (like a venue, amazing decor or inviting expensive speakers) and those fancy things will cost you fancy money. You’ll have to sell enough tickets to be able to cover the cost of everything you paid for upfront - and then make a profit.

Marketing

No matter how much energy you put into planning your vision board party, you’ll need to sell tickets to be able to make any type of profit.

That’s where marketing comes in.

The more tickets you sell, the more opportunities you have to actually make a profit with your party. You can sell tickets through marketing on social media, email, building partnerships, working with affliates or talking to people you know.

All of these actions put together will expose more people to your event - and increase your odds of selling more tickets.

Pricing

Pricing is one of the most important focuses of your event - because if you price too low, you won’t break even on your expenses (or make a profit). On the other hand, if you price too high, people will not want to purchase tickets to your event.

Value

Your event has to totally deliver on the promises you made in the marketing material. If you tell people that you’re going to tackle their financial hardships, you have to make sure that you address their money woes to a point that they feel energized to go home and tackle their goals.

The benefit of hosting a super high value event is two-fold. When people are able to walk away from your event feeling like you helped them make a real change in their lives -they’ll want to come back again. They’ll also start to tell their friends about the event.

That means in the future you could charge more for that value.

You now have fans that will be interested in a future event from you.

You also have people who will go out and market your event for you because they’ll be telling their friends and family about it. #winning

Making money with vision board parties is totally possible! All it takes is a bit of planning, budgeting and providing enough value to your attendees to help them reach their goals.

xoxo

How To Manifest Real Love with A Boyfriend Vision Board

boyfriend vision board.png

I'll be honest with you - I struggled terribly when I was trying to adjust to being single AND pushing 30. (You know, that magical age when your parents act as if your ovaries are about to explode?)

It Hit. Me. Hard. As a child, I always thought I'd be whisked away by my prince charming right after college and before I started med school. (Yep, in that exact order, I had it all planned out.)

But after years of bouncing helplessly from one failed relationship to the next, I started to get super discouraged.

I wondered what was wrong with me.

I thought that maybe I wasn't meant to find anyone - and I'd be alone forever (with my 17 cats, obviously).

Luckily, the go-getter nature in me wouldn't allow myself to get discouraged by my super single (and super lonely) situation.

To retain my hope in love (and in my ability to find it) I created a boyfriend vision board. (Yes, you read that right.)

What IS a Boyfriend Vision Board?

Generally, a vision board is a visual representation of the things you want to have happen in your life. Many people use vision boards annually in order to set their focus and intentions for all areas of their life including career, education, family, finances, spirituality and (of course) relationships.

Your boyfriend vision board visually displays all of the qualities that you are looking for in a person that you want to spend your life with.

Why Create A Boyfriend Vision Board?

A boyfriend vision board will help you nail down exactly what you’re looking for in a relationship. It helps you set your intentions for your life when you are looking for a partner.

A few years ago, I realized I was one of those women. I kept letting an obvious loser back into my life - after several lies, women face-timing him and calling him at all hours of the night. Why did I keep letting him in? Well, that shows you just how bored, lonely and discouraged I was.

I knew I was in a situation solely due to familiarity. (He kept coming back.)

I knew it was time for a change.

I knew I wanted and deserved something better.

I wanted real joy.

I wanted intimate conversation.

I wanted soul fulfilling connection.

I wanted freedom to be my authentic self.

That is when I created my boyfriend vision board.

How Does A Boyfriend Vision Board Work?

A boyfriend vision board works because you have to dig deep inside yourself and be ready to answer this million dollar question "What am I actually looking for in a life partner?"

When you ask that question, you are forced to think through all the different qualities in a human that really matter to you. After you do that exercise, you’re able to be intentional about the people you spend time with and the people you start to date.

You’re also able to better (and more quickly) determine when a person’s values and behaviors do not align with the things that you value most in a life partner. This allows you to be more discerning with your time, energy and (most importantly) your heart.

How To Create Your Boyfriend Vision Board

I’ve written several times about vision boards and how to create one, and the strategy to build a vision board is similar when creating one for your new, amazing beau. The real difference is in the work you do before you create your vision board.

Before you grab the magazines and poster board, you must start with a clear vision of what you want out of your future mate.

  1. Write down all the qualities that you would want in a person.

  2. What personal values should they have?

  3. Where do you see you and this person going in 5, 10 and 20 years.

There were three key things on my vision board:

A man smiling and playing with a child: I have a tween daughter so it’s important to me that the person who comes into my life will have a great relationship with her.

The word “Honesty”: After spending entirely too much time with someone who constantly lied to me, I knew that feeling of wondering whether my partner was telling the truth. I knew that feeling of being lied to. I knew that feeling of mistrust. I needed an honest person in my life because I never wanted to feel those feelings again.

Two old people lying in the bed and smiling: The people on my board were easily in their 70’s. This image signified to me what I wanted for my future. Someone that would be around for the long haul and smile at me in the morning - even after 40 years.

Now that I had that image of what I wanted, I knew it when I saw it.
