The 4 vision board workshop formats that always deliver

Does the idea of hosting a vision board workshop light a fire in your soul, but you’re still in the dark when it comes to the logistics?

“How long should my event be?”

“How many activities do I include?”

“What’s the best format to help my attendees reach their goals?”

I get asked these questions all the time by my students.

Choosing the right vision board workshop format means knowing the transformation you want your audience to walk away with and what YOU are prepared to invest into the workshop.

But before you go down the rabbit hole of trying to DIY a format in the dark, read on!

Today I’m answering ALL the questions and laying out the 4 types of vision board workshops, so you can choose which is right for you.

The ‘Teaser’: A Great Place to Start

Essentially a quick or beginner workshop, the Teaser is a great way to give your intended audience a taste of what is to come.

Think of it like the chips and salsa you get handed with the menu when you sit down at your favorite Mexican spot. Or if you’re at a fancy restaurant, the ‘hors d'oeuvre’!

Those smokey, crunchy chips and that fresh, fragrant salsa really get your taste buds going.

If you like what you taste, I’ll bet you can’t wait for your actual meal.

The Teaser is usually under 90 minutes and a way to showcase your teaching style and personality.

The audience should walk away knowing who you are, your specialty, and the kind of transformation they can expect from working with you.

The goal is to have them sign up for your full coaching session or training before they walk out the door.

The ‘Full Workshop’: Where Vision Boards are Made

If the Teaser is the hors d'oeuvre, a Full Workshop is the appetizer.

It will open the appetite, take the edge off your hunger, but you’ll likely be left wanting more.

With this format, you’re expanding on the elements of the teaser, deep-diving into goal setting and vision clarity, and getting started on the visions boards themselves.

There are no hard and fast rules, but a Full Workshop generally lasts around 2-4 hours with more coaching and self-exploration.

You should include ice breakers, activities to help start the self-exploration journey, and either get people started on a vision board or even creating their own vision board workshop.

A Full Workshop is far more hands-on, you can get fun and creative with it, and there’s time for your audience to dig deep and also make connections.

The ‘Retreat’: An Unplugged Getaway

Taking people away from the day-to-day, getting them to create time and space for themselves, and watching life-altering transformations happen is about as rewarding as it can get.

I think of this as the main course. Done right, it’s a game-changer.

A Retreat is a chance for people to escape life’s everyday demands and mental clutter, devote 100% of their focus on themselves, and really listen to that inner voice.

I call it the ‘unplugged getaway’, and it’s one of my favorites.

When your guests are in this mindset, you can go so much deeper, and the transformations are that much more powerful.

A Retreat can be anywhere from 1 to 5 days and can incorporate a whole host of other activities, like yoga, hikes, and meditation.

You can play around with the content and length but ensure there is time for guests to finish their vision boards.

Just make sure to include whatever it takes to help guests switch off so they can switch on to what matters and let that all-important transformation happen.

The ‘Bonus Experience’: Turn Learning Into Reality

You’re already offering your clients a specialized coaching service, actively helping them on their life’s journey, but you’re looking to take it to the next level.

I think of this as the dessert that puts the icing on the cake of a great meal.

I have a lot of coaches come into my programs looking to up-level their vision board workshops.

They want to help clients take everything they’ve learned and put it into action to move forward with their dreams.

Say you’re a financial coach who’s helped clients fix their money problems.

By adding a vision board experience, you can help them envision what life will look like now that their money issues are a thing of the past.

I even had a photographer wanting to add a vision board element to their course to help clients visualize their future art and how they would put it out into the world.

The Bonus Experience is an awesome tool for business owners and coaches to take their clients one step further on their self-discovery journeys.

Make A Transformative Difference to Someone’s Life

Whatever your end goal for your vision board workshop, or the appetite of your intended audience, there’s a format to suit. Let’s do a quick recap:

  • The ‘Teaser’ will provide a mini-mindset-shift and showcase how you’re capable of helping your audience reach a full transformation.

  • The ‘Full Workshop’ gets your audience big results towards their transformative journey.

  • The ‘Retreat’ unplugs from the day-to-day and takes them on a deeper discovery.

  • The ‘Bonus Experience’ adds an extra life-changing layer to the service you’re already offering.

These 4 amazing experiences will ensure your audience will walk away with a transformation, and every transformation, big or small, is a step closer to making someone’s dreams come true.
