3 Burning Questions for Potential Vision Board Party Hosts

How To Stop Working Towards Someone Elses Dream.png

Starting a business or side hustle can be the greatest thing you ever do.

But I’ve seen first-hand how success can depend on the ‘WHY’ behind what you do.

When anyone comes to me wanting to start a vision board party business, I start by asking the BIG question.

‘Is your ‘WHY’ based on desire or desperation?’

If you have vision boards in your soul, a burning desire to help others, or to share your story with the world, then go preach, my friend.

But if you’re trying to get out of the situation you’re in, desperate for a lifesaver, and in full-on ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ mode, we need to have a serious conversation.

I’ve got three questions that will help you decide whether the vision board life is for you.

But first, here’s how I had my lightbulb moment.

When your ‘why’ is out of whack

When I hit rock bottom, I was so broke I couldn’t afford to feed myself, let alone my daughter.

She ate the leftovers from my work lunch meetings, and I would eat pretzels taken from the lobby of the office.

With bills up to eyeball and maxed out credit cards, I was sliding into a depression.

When you’re sitting in the darkness of rock bottom, you look for any speck of light and cling onto it for dear life.

If you’re a determined person, you don’t just go down, you go down SWINGING.

I REFUSED to give up on trying.

From starting an MLM business and a Mom Blog to selling arts and crafts boxes and setting up an Etsy shop to sell cards, I tried it ALL.

“If one of these things goes well, maybe we’ll be ok…”

Thinking I was driving myself forwards, I was actually digging myself further into debt by investing money I didn’t have in businesses that never took off.

Cue lightbulb moment sat at rock bottom eating pretzels!

My ‘WHY’ was all out of whack.

The reason I kept starting business after business was because I was desperate for financial stability. I wanted to eat without wondering whether I could afford to.

My ‘WHY’ was as desperate as they come.

Ever tossed a bunch of spaghetti at the wall to see if one sticks?

I threw the whole pan at the wall, and I don’t want that for you!

So I got rid of everything I had, focused on solving the reasons behind my desperate ‘why’, and THEN I started a business based on desire and passion.

Follow your passion rather than problem fixing

If you’ve never looked at your ‘WHY’, it’s time to sit down and get serious.

Are you passionate about vision boards and helping people, or whatever drives the business you’re looking to set up?

Or did you see someone doing it on social media claiming to have invested 10k and made a 6-figure income in a month, and you see this as a quick fix for your money troubles?

While these stories are sexy, what usually happens is you end up 10k more in debt.

What’s driving your ‘WHY’ is key before you even get your credit card out or set up your Instagram handle.

“I want to fix my finances, save my marriage, distract myself from the pain I feel in my soul….”

… my friend, vision board workshops are not your Ministry right now!

Figure out your stuff first, and THEN if you really want to do this, let’s go get it.

The Big 3 questions for clarity

If you still can’t work out whether you’re on the right path, there are 3 questions you need to ask yourself before you board a train to Vision Board Central.

Are you already into vision boards?

Made a vision board and seen the results for yourself, or helped others build vision boards and watched transformations happen?

If it’s yes, then get on that train, you’re heading in the right direction.

Do you teach and mentor people on a particular topic already?

If you’re helping or mentoring people and push them forward, and want to continue doing that with vision boards, this makes perfect sense.

Buckle up and enjoy the ride.

Is this something you’ve been thinking about for a while?

Have you been toying with the idea of hosting vision board parties but not yet taken the final step into ‘doing’?

It’s time to take action and get on board.

Make space for your passion and true vision

If you’ve never made a vision board, attended an event, mentored, or helped anyone, you’re entering the danger zone.

Ask yourself why you want to invest in this type of business and what you hope to gain.

It’s a hard conversation to have, and I want you to think about whether you REALLY want to do this work.

Be honest.

If it’s a no, that’s OK.

Free yourself from this moment and pursue something that actually matters to you.

If you’ve got problems to fix, do that first and then come back to vision boards.

Once you do, you’ll have space for your true ‘why’ to shine through and pursue a business that fills your soul.
